Atmospheric New Wave reverb-ophiles ON SPARROW HILL launch their new CD “The Sitting Choir” with a very special line up indeed.
Word on the street says Swedish singer Lasse Lindh will be making a special up-until-now secret appearance, playing a few songs solo and then backed by other Seoul-based foreign bodies WE NEED SURGERY .
We Need Surgery - in the middle of an alien abduction
Lasse Lindh - errr...they're quietly confident he'll make it to the gig
Plus – and only the greediest human would demand more than what’s already on the bill – Korean Pop Punk 3-piece Look & Listen is the cherry on the top.
W12,000 on the door gets you four – FOUR! – quality live acts, On Sparrow Hills CD and a drink – who could ask for more? In fact, if you did ask for more, I would deliberately spill your free drink to teach you a lesson, you ungrateful sod.

After several complaints that the YOUTUBE versions of the new videos are invisible to the naked eye on certain computers (mainly PC 방’s, it seems), I’ve also uploaded them to VIMEO. Reaction to the new songs has been very positive and there is already buzz on other blog sites (see below), which shows the new level of (well deserved) popularity they are reaching.
Tae Woo and Kwang Sun were still being cagey about the new album’s release date when I spoke to them last week , but did reveal that it will be available on iTunes.
Speaking of buzz, big love and plutonic hugs to the blogsites VIOLET SWEETS and INDIEFUL ROK for linking to these videos.
More slashes than a stab victim, Korean/American/Singer/Songwriter Tomi Kita is a talented fella.
For nearly 15 years, he’s straddled the perilous twin tightropes of writing in English and Korean without splitting his pants or shattering his pelvis.
His last Korean Album, “IN DREAMS“ came out a few years ago. He’s got a new album and this time around it’s an English one – simply titled “TOMIKITA” – as he explained to me today:
“I am currently getting ready to release my new English album internationally through iTunes and it will be available all over the world…not sure of the release date just yet, but…soon”
PONY had long been on my list of bands to make a video for. They’re genuinely good with an excellent CD (available in CD shops – if you can find a CD shop in Seoul, that is) and absolutely look the part.
I played email tennis with them about making a video. After some initial interest, they recently responded with this bombshell:
Actually vocal’s girlfriend has already made the music video hehe. thx you for your interest for our band.
Argh – the pain of rejection! It’s like school all over again.
(However, it’s the first outright (video) rejection I’ve had – usually, I just get the silent treatment. So that’s one good thing, isn’t it….isn’t it!??)
Well, I still like the band and hope that one day they’ll want one of my videos.
Their current videos can be seen here and here (a teaser for the first album), plus the usual lo-fi montage kinda stuff here.
Seoul Anglo-Philes PHONEBOOTH are currently writing their new album, the follow-up to last year’s “the way to live on” . That album really showed their evolution from enjoyable scamps, to proper band. Compare and contrast their first EP and “the way to live on” and see the huuuuge leap in songwriting maturity. (check out their excellent video for “got a chance” for further evidence)
Kwang Sun fights the Invisible Man 광선씨는 투명인간과 싸웠어요
The band are confident, claiming “amazing new songs” for their second full-length album, building on the momentum of the last 12 months.

Put it in your diary, write it on a Post-It note, scratch it on your chest – do whatever, just don’t forget!
Cool Lo-Fi eardrum-botherers, Animal Dads, have been a little quiet for the last few months due to grooming 2 new fellas for bass and drums.
Animal Dad-er Ian explains:
“We have basically been in hiding all spring and summer writing new stuff, different stuff cause of the two new members. No big plans, other than becoming tighter, playing as much as possible and trying to write the best 3 minute indie rock songs in the world“
In order to stare at the new boys and make sure the new songs hit the 3-minute mark, you must go to:
